Lunchbox Linky!

I am still trying to catch up for everything I've missed in blogland.  My nap yesterday afternoon on the couch didn't help.  Neither did my trip to Costco today.

First of all, have you hit up Target recently?  Check out what was on clearance a couple of weeks ago:

Sharpie pens for only $9.08 (normally $18.19).  I've heard nothing but great things about these pens, although I have shockingly not opened them yet.

Tara, over at 4th Grade Frolics is having a lunch box linky

I won't lie...mine's not pretty.  Unlike that super cute button for the linky :)

Here's my lunchbox:

I got it at Costco a couple of years ago.  I like it because it is BIG.  My mother-in-law got me a cute 31 lunchbag to match my teacher bag, but I've found it's a little too small.  Here's what was in my lunch bag today:
  • Ham & Cheese Lean pocket complete with a plate to heat it up on & a plastic fork & knife.  I like to be prepared & not have to ask the cafeteria staff for things to heat it up on.  The plate just makes things easier :) I have this lunch probably at least once a week, if not more.
  • Yogurt.  I didn't even eat this today.  Maybe tomorrow...
  • Diet Dr. Pepper...my new obsession.  I always have a diet drink at lunch to help fill me up.
At the last minute, I decided to add some real fruit: strawberries!

This is the embarassing part.  All of this is stuff that pretty much permanently lives in my lunchbox, until I decide to eat it {usually when I'm ravenous on the way home}
Except for the popcorn.  That's reserved for faculty meetings or my planning.

So here are the stats on my lunch:
  • We go to lunch at 11:35 and have 20 minutes for lunch.  That means we're supposed to be leaving by 11:55.  By the time I sit my kids down and heat up my lunch, I have about 5-10 minutes to shovel food in my pie-hole.  I'm sure I'm doing massive internal damage eating so quickly, but what can ya do?
  • I have to eat with my kiddos.  Last year, there was a big push for teachers to have at least one duty free lunch every week.  At my school we were able to have two.  However, whenever I went back to get them, they were always loud and crazy.  Even if I can't get a duty free lunch, I'd love to eat at an adults only table.  Right now, only special area teachers do that.  A little adult conversation would be nice.
I am SO jealous of those of you that can eat in your room or with other teachers and can just drop your kiddos off.

Here's my lunchbox all packed up and ready to go {with the plate, you can see why I need a big lunchbox :) }  I also like that the straps are long enough that I can carry it like a purse on my shoulder.

So what's lunch like where you work?  I am always so amazed to see what it's like for other teachers in other places.  I hope you head over and link up!  There's also a chance to win a ca-ute 31 lunch box!

My lunch bag is like yours with long straps! I always have to help my kids through the lunch line so it's nice to have both hands free.

And your strawberries look super YUM! I love fruit. I always bring my own plate and silverware also. :)

I can't believe you have to eat with your kids!!!!!! And had to fight for a duty free lunch! That's so crazy to me! It's in our contract that we get a 30 minute duty free lunch no matter what -- weather problems included. Any other days, its 45 minutes. YIKES!
I think your bag is too cute! And I pack lots of snacks, too!

I have to eat lunch with my kids too! UGGHHHH totally miss adult conversation OR working in my room at that time (which is what I did at my old school when we all had duty free lunch all week long)!

We have lunch at 11:10. Since I have Kinder, we eat lunch first... so I sneak it around 11:05, ha (gotta love private schools)! We eat til 11:30. So by the time I open 26 milk bottles, make sure everyone is seated and has their stuff, heat up my lunch... like you, I have a good 5-10 minutes! Oh teaching :)

Thanks for linking up!!! I can't believe you only have 20 minutes!!! There's times when I'm running around doing teacher stuff that I only have about 5 to slam down lunch but I have tried really hard to make that stuff wait so I can eat without swallowing it whole!! I'm very worried that our "free lunches" (without peeps) will soon be gone because they keep cutting the budget:/ Eeek!

It must be hard to eat with your kids! Even though our lunch is short, it's nice to not have to answer 20398423048 questions! (that's how many we answer in a day, right??) I definitely need adult time!
